Squid

Squidlicious!

Squid is a by-product from prawn trawlers.

It is highly regarded as a delicacy.

We mainly source our squid from the Gulf of Carpentaria

and the Bonaparte Gulf of the NT.

Our range of squid includes:

  • Local Whole Squid
  • Squid Tubes
  • Baby Squid
  • Squid Rings

Did you know?

  • Squid are cephalopods of the order Teuthida, which comprises around 300 species.
  • Most squids have two fins to stabilize it while it swims.
  • Squid, like cuttlefish, have eight arms arranged in pairs and two, usually longer, tentacles.
  • A squid's funnel acts as an engine, giving it the ability to swim quickly. It uses its speed and ink as a defense mechanism, as its soft body makes it vulnerable to predators.
  • Squids are carnivorous and eat small fish, shrimp, crabs and sometimes other squid.
  • A squid's entire life cycle lasts just one year.
